Software Developer to work in the Tampa Bay area supporting the development of applications using C++, VB and SQL Server databases.  The candidate will be required to modify/write code in C++, VB6, and TSQL/SQL, develop procedures, triggers and design databases to meet requirements for Enterprise applications.  This position requires detailed knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, C++. Experience with VB Version 6.0., .Net, AutoCAD, XSL, and XML a plus. 

Must have a TS/SCI clearance.

A minimum of 4 years experience with object-oriented programming languages, with an emphasis on C++, database operating systems, programming concepts and development toolkits.  Good communication skills and the ability to document requirements, workflow, design documentation and programmers notes.  Understanding of hardware, device drivers and software products of a COTS nature and ability to integrate packages through specialized code.  Ability to model/design and maintain Database Operating Systems.  Knowledge and experience using third-party SDK's.

Background and Experience (including education, skills, work activities):  BS Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience. Ability to develop, support and sustain database operating systems. Minimum of 4 years experience with database design technologies using C++ and VB.  (willing to teach the VB).

We are looking for a Software Developer to join our team and help complete the redesign of EMPOWERx, one of our flagship products. EMPOWERx is a web site where healthcare professionals can access their patients' medication history with integrated clinical decision support, electronic prescribing, and formulary. This is a 5 month contractor position.

The project is being developed in Visual Studio 2008 with C# 3.0 (using .Net 3.5 SP1). The front end is using the new ASP.NET MVC framework along with jQuery. The back end uses the Castle Windsor IoC container to create service layer components with dependency injection. Finally, the database access is handled using NHibernate, though we are also keeping an eye on the Entity Framework. Unit testing is done using NUnit along with Rhino Mocks and Moq.

The project is managed using Scrum with 3 week sprints. Within those sprints we use some elements of XP to do our daily development tasks. These include user stories, TDD, pair programming, automated builds, etc.
